Exit exam prevents 506 seniors from earning diplomas

At least 506 Orange County seniors failed to earn a diploma this spring only because they couldn't pass the state's high school exit exam. These students, from the high school class of 2010, passed every necessary class and met all other graduation requirements. About 31,000 seniors in all graduated this spring from local public high schools. The exit exam measures aptitude in 10th-grade English and eighth-grade algebra. It was intended to ensure students graduate from high school with basic skills. (more...)
