New challenges for bilingual education

Having a focused program and a larger number of trained teachers are the two main challenges of bilingual education, according to the organizations that propose this agenda. "We need to change the way in which language is taught to students for whom it is a second language," says Santiago Wood, Executive Director of the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE). In its annual conference last week in Denver Colorado, NABE presented a series of proposals that are considered necessary for these programs to have a stronger impact in the education of students who are learning English.
