Racial disparities in some school testing reduced

An annual report on the county’s effort to reduce racial disparities in student achievement showcased several success stories from the region and highlighted the class of 2010’s record performance on the state math test required for a diploma. Some 99.9 percent of the county’s white and Asian students in the class of 2010 passed the math portion of the California High School Exit Exam in time for commencement ceremonies. Close behind was the performance of Hispanic and black students: 99.2 percent of them cleared that graduation requirement. (more…)
