Torlakson’s priority: settle finance lawsuit

If he were elected superintendent of public instruction, Assembly Member Tom Torlakson would make his top priority the settling of Robles-Wong v. State of California, the lawsuit challenging the funding of K-12 schools. “Immediately upon taking office, I would convene the major stakeholders and work with the new governor and Legislature to hammer out a logical funding system that is going to have accountability, with effectiveness of teachers and principals as part of the mix and funding equitably our school system,” Torlakson said in an interview that can be seen on this site.
