Parents spell out detailed school reform blueprint

A national grassroots organization called Parents Across America — a leading group in a young, growing protest movement against test-based school reform — just released its own blueprint for the rewriting of No Child Left Behind. If only President Obama would read it. The document provides detailed positions on the main issues in public education today, taking positions counter to many of the school reform policies of the Obama administration. The organization’s founders and chapters are in states from Florida to California, New York to Washington, and members are meeting with U.S. legislators to try to get them to understand why there is opposition to reform based on standardized tests, an expansion of charter schools, vouchers and related measures.
