Public education's future is a learning experience

Public education will be different in five or 10 years, but educators haven't agreed on how more technology and choices and less revenue will affect it. Five superintendents spoke about their current visions during a forum Monday night for the Riverside County School Boards Association meeting in Norco. "It will have to look different than it's been in the past decade," Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Young said. "It will have to be different because we don't have the resources." School board members afterward expressed frustration with state lawmakers unable to agree on the state budget, a new vision for California schools, greater local control and funding, or how to sustain schools with less money and a collection of state education laws 5 inches thick.
