More Sacramento-area students passing Advanced Placement tests

More Sacramento-area students are entering universities armed with college credits earned in high school, according to recently released state data. The credits are their reward for passing Advanced Placement tests. Sacramento-area students did better than the rest of the state on the tests in 2010 – with an 11 percent increase in scores high enough to gain college credit, compared to the state's 7 percent increase. It primarily comes down to access – more AP classes, more students passing the tests. The number of students taking AP courses has risen almost as fast as the number of students scoring well.
