UC students lobby for California DREAM Act

University of California students are campaigning in favor of two bills that would allow some undocumented immigrants to get financial aid while they attend college. Throughout February, UC's Student Association is urging students on campuses statewide to write postcards to Gov. Jerry Brown asking him to sign Assembly Bills 130 and 131 by Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles. The measures, which are now before the Assembly Committee on Higher Education, would allow illegal immigrant students who qualify for in-state tuition to also qualify for financial aid. (more...)
