PA school segregates students by race and gender

A high school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania has adopted a pilot program that separates students by race and gender in their homeroom classrooms. The McCaskey East High School's pilot program has sparked much controversy regarding segregation in schools. NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous, stated, "School boards across this country are rolling the clock back to the time before Brown vs. the Board of Education. The NAACP will not let this happen." Angela Tilghman, an instructional coach at the school, developed the program with the hope of closing the racial achievement gap at the school. (more...)
