Calculating student success with credit score tools

The same predictive analytics used to create credit scores and insurance premiums are now guiding public education. By gathering information on students and teachers, experts can forecast an elementary schooler's chances of graduating from high school and likelihood of success in college, or see if a new instructors style matches a school's philosophy. The San Jose Unified School District has become a front runner of the controversial new technique, assessing dropout risk by utilizing 15 years of academic, behavioral, social development and health data, in addition to subjective assessments from students, parents and teachers.
