Pink slip season for teachers getting tougher

More than 2,000 Sacramento-area educators received pink slips recently. Some will have the preliminary layoff notices rescinded before the May 15 deadline for final notices. Most will not. School officials are waiting to see if the governor's proposed tax extensions are put on the ballot, and if voters would approve them.
