S.D. Unified begins looking at school closures

They have laid off teachers, cut bus routes and eliminated education programs. Now San Diego Unified School District officials are laying the groundwork for potetial school closures to cope with an ongoing fiscal crisis. The board of education on Tuesday authorized protocols that will start with a series of community meetings and could lead to the closure of ten schools. Trustees want parents and teachers to have a voice in the daunting decision of which campuses could be closed next fall.
