Research results surprise, educate youth

In a survey conducted this summer, 95% of Los Angeles youth said the Los Angeles Unified School District should ask students about what their schools need, yet only 41% have faith that the government will actually listen and make changes based on what young people have to say.

The results were released last Friday during multi-media presentations at Los Angeles City Hall by the Council of Youth Research.

The council consists of students from Crenshaw, Locke, Manual Arts, Wilson and Roosevelt high schools who attended a summer seminar at UCLA hosted by the Institute for Democracy, Education and Access (IDEA).
