Two parent activist groups go live

Faster than you can say Educacy, one of the three founders of a group of activist parents in Silicon Valley has split off and created a separate non-profit organization. Both Educacy and Parents for Great Education went live with their websites earlier this week. Both have similar missions: to engage parents interested in reforming K-12 schools. Each will go about it differently. Educacy’s thrust will be advocating for changes in state education policy; Parents for Great Education will initially focus on grassroots organizing and new voter registration, according to Executive Director Hoi Yung Poon of Cupertino.
